I have been a Hastings on Hudson Board of Education Trustee since 2021 and Vice President for the last two years. 

It has been my extreme privilege to drive change and academic progress for the children in our district. I have worked tirelessly to ensure we support our children as individual learners, so they can find their own academic success in an emotionally supportive environment.

I believe academics should be the first and foremost concern of a school district. The board should focus on supporting the teachers and administration in providing our children with a solid foundation in the core elements of an education - math, reading, writing, science, history, foreign languages, the arts.

A truly effective board member is not a “one issue” candidate. There are times on the board when a trustee must suppress their own personal point of view in order to adequately represent the views of our district. I take pains to examine issues from many angles and have been accessible and willing to collaborate with all members of our community and Board. I never shy away from speaking up, even on a controversial topic, when I believe it is necessary to support our children.

I'm running again because the work to ensure the success of our children is on-going. The next few years will be critical:

• Successfully integrating and on-boarding the new administrative talent in our middle and high schools. 

• Negotiating a teacher’s contract that can and must be created to benefit both our hard-working teachers and our amazing students.

• Nurturing the Portrait of a Hastings Learner (POHL) work. 

• Ensuring the administration develops an affordable budget each year that provides our students all they need to thrive, while ensuring that the members of our community can afford to live here.

My goal on the board is always to advocate for our children, to ensure they are given the tools they need to thrive during their time in school, thus preparing them to succeed as civic minded adults in the world beyond our village.
